- Does it require Tracked Items to be used?
Yes. The best way to think about this is physical goods and hardware (something that needs to be shipped).
- What kind of scanner? Are there some that we know work with Fusebill?
Any kind. Think of the scanner as a keyboard. It’s just a dumb input device.
- Does the scanner have to be configured in any specific way?
The scanner can be configured to automatically add a carriage return (go down to the next box) or a tab character (go across to the next box) after it scans. Again, think of it like a keyboard.
- What kind of BarCodes do we support or is this more related to the scanner itself and what it supports? If scanner related, are there specific output formats we support (Text,? There are dozens of formats out there.
Anything that prints text into a box on the screen. Most of them are designed to do this.
- Suggested Workflow for using?
The scanning functionality serves the following purposes.
1 – For your fulfilment team to easily be able to scan serialized hardware one after the other into Fusebill without having to touch the keyboard.
2 – Input as tracked items, the quantities match the number of hardware items scanned it AND print up to 3 columns of information on an optional second page of the invoice. (Eg. For GPS devices, I could store (SerialNumber, IMEI Number, VIN Number)
Side note: non-serialized inventory in NetSuite (ie. Cables, widgets etc) is also reduced by Fusebill (not related to scanning) when the hardware invoice is posted.
3 – When used in conjunction with the NetSuite integration. Serialized items scanned into tracked items, will automatically reduce inventory of the hardware in question when an invoice is posted (basically NetSuite has an inventory of all the Serial Numbers and Fusebill reduces the inventory based on a serial number match).
4 – In the Salesforce integration, you can leverage the tracked items interface for easy scanning as well (via the iFrame) . IE. For a fulfillment team that only works in Salesforce and not in Fusebill.
